Position Summary
We are looking for a multitalented and self-driven individual with a strong background in biochemical and biophysical assay development. As a startup company, this is a great opportunity to collaboratively build and contribute to the drugging strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assay development, an in-depth understanding of biochemistry and biophysics, and experience with small molecule drug discovery programs. The individual will play a central role in close coordination with internal scientists and collaboratively enable new projects for drug discovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently design, develop biochemical and biophysical assays for target enablement and hit finding
- Characterize proteins, troubleshoot experiments, optimize assays suitable for SAR development
- Conduct enzyme mechanism of action studies to guide screening and drug discovery approaches
- Organize, manage, and analyze experimental data
- Collaborate with diverse project teams internally to champion lead discovery and progression of small molecules
- Analyze and present results at cross-functional team
Required Qualifications:
- MS with 8-10 years or BS with 10-12 years or Ph.D. with 0-4 years of experience in small molecule drug discovery industry
- Extensive experience in biochemical and binding assay development with a variety of readout formats (Fluorescence, FRET, LC-MS, FP, etc.)
- Hands-on knowledge of biophysical methods such as SPR, DSF, SEC-MALS, ITC, etc. is required
- Experience in assay optimization, steady state kinetics, mechanism of action studies, compound profiling, and screening
- Experience in protein purification using AKTA systems
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work on the project team with biologists, chemists, and metabolism scientists
- Highly organized, self-motivated with the desire to succeed
