Atavistik Bio is a digital native biotech that invests in one of its most important assets, our data.  We are seeking a talented professional to lead and manage the IT & Informatics functions.  The Director of IT & Informatics will be responsible for developing and executing an IT & Informatics strategy to maximize the value of scientific data in support of our therapeutic pipeline.  The Director of IT & Informatics will work side by side with our scientists to implement scientific data management systems in support of our AMPS platform and therapeutic programs. They will be responsible for overseeing IT services to enable business functions to achieve their objectives.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, articulate, and implement an IT & Informatics strategy
  • Define and implement data architecture and company-wide strategy for data storage, processing, analysis and mining
  • Oversees IT service delivery in support of business functions
  • Manage vendor relationships in support of IT & Informatics service delivery
  • Partner with scientists to capture, manage, and share scientific data using Informatics best practices and leading technologies
  • Assess and report IT, Informatics, and Cyber-security risks and gaps
  • Provide technical support when needed to augment vendor and contract support of systems
  • Secure company data leveraging a right-sized approach to information security
  • Manages, escalates and ultimately prevents service failures and/or degradations
  • Collaborate with others to facilitate business needs definition, workflow design and integration of scientific processes and technology into effective IT solutions
  • Implement and maintain key research systems, including ELN, Compound Registry and Results Management
  • Grow and effectively maintain cloud-based computing environment
  • Work with SVP to develop and manage IT & Informatics budget & roadmap

Required Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 10+ years as an information technology / informatics in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience evaluating, implementing and managing scientific data management platforms, cloud computing, document control/electronic lab notebook software, on-site solutions and IT vendor services
  • Experience in implementing, utilizing and leveraging outsourcing strategies
  • Ability to articulate a clear communication of strategy, data, and other information to employees, company leadership, and external stakeholders including, board members, and investors.
  • Prior experience and record of accomplishment leading cross functional teams and delivering on schedule in a start-up biotech environment
  • Proven track record of documenting and implementing standard IT processes
  • Project coordination and management experience

Desired Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years hands-on experience working with small molecule laboratory information management solutions including compound registration, LIMS, inventory management, assay data analysis, mass spec, and ELN
  • Experience working in a start-up, biotech environment
  • Practical understanding of relational database design and development
  • Experience implementing data aggregation technologies including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouse architectures
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. TIBCO Spotfire)
  • Ability to be flexible and perform many roles
  • A working knowledge of network and server security
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies
  • Thorough understanding of ITIL processes relating to incident management, problem management, and change management
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, technologies, and governance
  • Strong written, oral, and public speaking communication skills
