The Director of Qualitative Insights & Strategy (Open to Remote) understands human behavior and how emotions and values drive decisions for our clients. This person has strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and is a critical thinker and problem solver who can strategically address client needs by translating data into actionable insights. Responsibilities and Expectations

Qualitative Services Team

  • Adhere to “The CMB Way” (defined approaches, processes, best practices, etc.)
  • Contribute to marketing CMB by writing a blog annually
  • Take advantage of training and development opportunities
  • Contributes to a team and/or committee for ongoing CMB initiatives
  • Ensure end-to-end client/project delivery in alignment with Sales & Account Management leading to high client satisfaction with project deliverables

Essential Duties

  • Partners with VP, Practice Leaders, Sr. Directors of Insights & Innovation and Directors of Insights & Strategy Operations on qualitative projects
  • Demonstrates confidence and acts as a trusted advisor when consulting with clients to align on business and research objectives
  • Analyzes results and develops engaging, insightful, creative, and customized deliverables and presents to the client
  • Owns discussion guide writing, moderating interviews, analysis and reporting
  • Oversees creation of the screener and recruiting management
  • Owns the proposal development process (e.g., schedule, pricing, methodology)
  • Effectively communicates with other project team members and external resources
  • Onboards and mentors new CMB talent, when necessary
  • Anticipates and identifies project problems and finds solutions independently
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and/or ‘go to’ person for a specific area of expertise, stays abreast of industry trends, seeks out and brings new techniques and able to apply them to projects
  • Presents a CMB University case study annually
  • Participates in peer reviews in a timely manner


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Market-Research, Anthropology,
  • Behavioral Psychology or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience in qualitative market research
  • Minimum of 4 years experience independently managing moderating duties
  • Advanced in-person, telephone, and online moderating skills with individuals and groups
  • Is RIVA trained
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize findings from disparate sources
  • Excellent at establishing, managing and growing relationships with clients, vendors and coworkers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Excellent at establishing and managing relationships with clients, vendors and coworkers
  • Is detail-oriented and can work on multiple projects at a time
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software environment
  • Sense of humor and self-aware

Travel Expectations

  • 20 – 40% travel
