The Town of Watertown seeks a full-time (37.5 hours/week), highly qualified Program Coordinator who will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of a variety of educational programs, wellness activities, special events and other related work at the Council on Aging/Senior Center. The successful candidate must be organized, detail-oriented and flexible, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fun, fast-paced environment.

 

Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Senior Services, the Program Coordinator schedules instructors, activities and speakers for weekly lectures, fitness classes, workshops, and special events at the Senior Center and outreach programming held off-site. Generates publicity of offerings to promote attendance and membership at the COA via Facebook, other social media. Coordinates production of the monthly newsletter; writes content and is responsible for newsletter design, meets monthly deadline to printer and distributes newsletters each month.  Plans and coordinates special events, and parties.. Coordinates volunteers for all department programs. Provides information and referrals of area services available to senior citizens and maintains the department’s website. Must be able to work in a small team office setting, and independently including accompany department-sponsored outreach or day trips as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s Degree in human services or related field, and three years of experience working with older adults or

in social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Proficient in computer skills. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and pass a CORI/SORI  background check.

 

Expected Starting Hiring Range and Benefits:   The hiring range is $57,870 to $71,174 dependent upon qualifications and education, plus an excellent benefit package which includes pension, deferred compensation, health insurance 80% City paid premium, paid vacation, sick, personal, and holidays; flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and more.
