Position Summary
Responsible for analyzing and understanding business processes, workflows, roles, data needs, challenges and opportunities to be able to concisely document and illustrate business requirements and functional designs as they pertain to process improvement and system enablement.
This role is part of our Bank Technology function. In addition to being a strong technical contributor, our Bank Technology core values of collaboration, accountability, and aiming high are integral to how we work and define success. This role will also assist in driving cross functional teams for mapping processes, defining requirements, publishing functional designs, developing traceability test matrices for large projects that result in new capabilities and streamlined processes.
This role will have a hybrid work schedule in our Boston office in accordance with the Bank’s Hybrid Work Program
Specific Responsibilities
Elicit and clearly document business and systems requirements
Produce required project documentation such as business requirements, scope matrix, use cases, sequence diagrams, future state proposals, UAT plan
Identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis
Focus on quality improvement and data management and ensuring data is reliable and valid
Be seen as the SME for a product to be able to troubleshoot issues and understand the impact of proposed system changes
Map as-is and to-be processes to identify breakdowns and opportunities for improvement.
Navigate through schema to troubleshoot issues and document data mapping for reports and interfaces.
Collaborate closely with developers to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process
Participate in multiple projects by completing and updating necessary project documentation
Adjust schedules, when necessary, determine daily priorities and ensure efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones
Other duties as assigned or identified.
For the Senior BA title, the following responsibilities are outlined:
Ability to identify opportunities and strategies for improving business process efficiencies
Ability to negotiate and settle conflicting priorities amongst stakeholders
Ability to create materials and administer training on new products or to new users as required
Work with the enterprise architects to ensure solutions to achieve proposed functionality align with EA standards
Develop test scenarios and test cases, and support testing activities necessary to assess the quality and completion of system implementations
Ability to create a business case and enforcing change management for moderate complex functional changes
Ability to lead junior and temporary staff as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
5 – 10 years of experience that demonstrates progressively increasing responsibilities in business / systems solution implementation. 10 – 15 years of experience expected for the Senior title.
Experience in execution and participation in all phases of system development efforts.
Experience working independently in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
Proficient with data flow and process diagramming.
Strong preference for broad IT experience (Development, Analysis, PM, Testing, etc.).
Understanding of Financial Services products, operations and systems is a plus.
Experience working in Agile team is preferred. Experience working in an Agile team is required for the Senior title, with experience facilitating estimation and managing scrum events preferred.
Proficiency with agile tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA is preferred. Proficiency is expected for the Senior title.
Proficient with SQL, TOAD or similar tools to perform simple database queries is a must
Familiar with processes and systems that support treasury, trading and core banking functions.
Familiar with reporting tools such as SSRS, PowerBI to develop simple reports.
Strong analytical capabilities, willing to accept challenges, works with limited direction, possess high energy and a positive attitude.
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to the business community.
Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Excellent understanding of system development life cycle and system architecture principles.
Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MSWord and Excel.
Knowledge of MS Project is plus.
Education
A degree, preferably in a technical or finance-related field, or equivalent work experience is required. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus
Trained in process mapping and process optimization such as Lean Six Sigma is preferred
CSM or CSPO certification expected for a Senior BA title
