Position Summary
As the (Senior) QA Automation Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for designing and creating automated tests to validate the functionality of applications. This position will be responsible for developing automation test plans, creating automation test scripts that validate requirements and designs while ensuring existing functionality is not adversely impacted. To be considered for the senior level, demonstrated experience of mentoring, training, and providing overall guidance to other resources on test
automation best practices is required.

This role will have a hybrid work schedule in our Boston office in accordance with the Bank’s Hybrid Work Program.

Specific Responsibilities
 Own and manage the test code infrastructure ensuring timely upgrades and patches and maintain compliance with security and architecture standards.
 Work closely with cross functional teams and stakeholders to understand
project/product requirements and help identify opportunities for automation.
 Create and maintain/update test plans and test cases to execute them in accordance with the SDLC in an agile environment.
 Execute and maintain automated tests (already created) to ensure the overall quality for the applications after new changes are introduced.
 Actively participate in agile ceremonies, providing accurate and timely feedback regarding both the process and the product.
 Ensure quality and consistency across different applications and environments.
 Help to triage and escalate issues based on their severity when needed. Log and document defects as needed.
 Automate the staging of data in non-production environments.
 Support manual testing, as needed.
 Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and consulting skills to interact with internal Banking and IT customers and vendors.
 Investigate and solve problems by documenting solutions and transferring key knowledge to appropriate users.
 Manage and control source code using the Azure DevOps repos.
 Other duties, as assigned.

To be considered for the Senior title, the following are also required:
 Establish and enforce standardization of the automation testing framework and technologies within FHLBank Boston.
 Provide timely and precise information about the testing activities and their outcome including a test summary report and automation metrics.
 Automate post deployment application smoke testing.
 Create policies and procedures around test code management and deployment.
 Work with the enterprise architects to ensure solutions to achieve proposed functionality align with EA standards.

Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills
 Experience using automation tools and scripting tools (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, Visual Studio Coded UI) is a must
 Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure pipeline, Jenkins
 Experience working with PowerShell, BASH
 Experience with MS development tools such as Visual studio
 Experience writing/reading SQL queries and familiarity with navigating databases and tables.
 Experience with testing APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger, Soap UI
 Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience
 Experience working in Agile development environment
 Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
 Knowledge of the ServiceNow ATF is a plus

To be considered for the Senior title, the following are also required:
 Advanced skills in developing automation frameworks
 Experience working with TypeScript / JavaScript / Java / Python, and SQL.
 Knowledge of AWS infrastructure concepts including but not limited to VPC, Subnets, NACLs, Security Groups, EC2, S3, IAM, ELBs, Lambdas, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EKS etc.

Education
Degree in Computer Science or technology related field or equivalent work experience.
 
Experience
 Minimum 3 years of experience that demonstrates progressively increasing
responsibilities in QA automation and test coordination is preferred.

For the Senior title, a minimum of 5 years is expected.
 Experience in execution and management of all phases of system development efforts.
 Experience working independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
 Understanding of Financial Services products and systems is a plus.
