Serves as the Bank’s chief in-house counsel and as a key member of the Bank’s leadership team. Provides legal advice and counsel to the board of directors, officers and employees on regulatory, statutory, contractual, disclosure and corporate governance matters. Manages the Bank’s legal department, government and community relations function, and vendor management function, which includes our supplier diversity program, providing supervision, development and substantive oversight to the Bank’s in-house lawyers and staff (currently 4 direct reports). This role will leverage diversity and inclusion in functional business practices, both of which are essential to optimize individual and organizational performance. All efforts and interactions should be conducted in a manner that demonstrates the Bank’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Qualifications: Minimum 10-15 years progressive experience in a law firm, corporate law department or government agency specializing in banking, finance or regulatory law. Familiarity with applicable areas of secured transactions, corporate, employment, contract and securities law and applicable laws and regulations affecting the Bank and its members. General knowledge of banking practices, commercial and corporate law, and SEC reporting. Experience representing companies with regulatory matters required. Experience representing public companies, including familiarity with periodic reporting and accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and corporate governance highly preferred. Experience leading and developing staff is expected.
