About the position:
JFF is excited to partner with Ares Charitable Foundation to work at the forefront of building skills and career pathways, preparing individuals and organizations for climate resilient jobs. The growing urgency to mitigate climate change and increase environmental responsibility has radically altered how to think about evolving climate-resilient, energy and “green jobs.” Upskilling people for climate change action will require innovation and collaboration across sectors and regions, new business models, and clearly defined roles and the Program Director of CREST will be a leader in that charge with JFF.
Reporting to the Executive Director of JFFLabs, the Program Director of CREST will lead a new, cross organization, multi-year initiative. In this role, you will oversee multiple workstreams concurrently, develop structured processes and reporting mechanisms that drive team accountability and keep key stakeholders aware of milestones. You will work with the team to build project plans and processes, manage milestone delivery, and will help coach and support entrepreneurs, innovators, and regional groups to develop scalable and equitable solutions to upskill people into energy and green jobs.
This role will be instrumental in leading our innovation initiatives with key stakeholders. You will oversee the delivery of innovation challenges and collaborative activities specifically focused on clean energy and green jobs, and will support the development and execution of partnerships, strategies with innovators/entrepreneurs, working with local governments and universities.
The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and passion to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams. This person will be a strategic partner to business leaders and teams across JFF, and will cultivate successful relationships with external partners and funders. Given this, the ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of climate, energy, and green jobs trends and best practices.

What you’ll do:
Lead Org-wide Climate Resilient, Energy and Green Jobs Initiative
Serve as the strategic lead for a new climate resilient, energy, and green jobs initiative; develop the program to meet the mission and requirements of the grant and manage the day to day activities of the team
Deliver value by leading opportunity framing, collaborative solutions design workshops, and manage executive stakeholder discussions
Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to identify blogs, posts, articles, and multi-media opportunities to disseminate findings, learnings, and data, and oversee communications for consistency and engagement
Create nurturing strategic relationships with key customer stakeholders and lead a steering committee to ensure coordination across various units
Partner with Programs and Marketing teams, as well as task/workstream leads to define project objectives, resource requirements, timing, and deliverables in support of organizational and initiative goals
Develop, manage, and communicate project expectations, updates, and milestones (i.e. status and progress reports, roadblocks/contingency plans, post-mortems, etc.) to key stakeholders and ensure grant deliverables are moving toward established goals and objectives
Research, Innovate, and Scale
Support the research and surfacing of leading-edge trends, market disruptions, alternative management options, alternative finance options, and emerging technologies that might impact regions while improving training and education opportunities for historically marginalized groups
Work in partnership with project team to coach regions by managing delivery and activities on regional challenges and to identify, vet, and advise startups
Build engagement and sustainability plans, and outcomes measures for the program, initiatives, and workstream activities
Influence the mindset of stakeholders and companies by challenging the status quo and showcasing how new models and emerging technology can help eradicate occupational segregation
Synthesize insights and patterns from engagements to move solutions to scale across multiple regions
Identify, prioritize and represent JFF at high level public forums and contribute to JFF’s thought leadership in relevant domains through publications, blogs, and other media
Manage Teams and Build Coalitions
Lead a team of up to 5 direct reports, and indirectly lead and influence a staff of 20+ project members
Develop and coach various workstream leads on best practices for initiative management
Assist in building industry partnerships with companies, academia, innovators, and venture looking to advance initiatives focused on upskilling and reskilling employees in the green economy
Identify, engage, and activate startup communities focused on clean energy and green economy initiatives
Collaborate with various units across JFF to lead the process of shaping and implementing the Climate initiatives that both support JFF strategic goals/mission and respond to and influence developments in the field
Who you are:
You have at least 10 years of professional experience managing projects and leading teams in education, workforce development, or climate change fields
You are an expert relationship builder and manager with strong influencing and collaboration skills, consistently working in support of mission attainment and growth.
You excel working in unstructured environments with evolving processes and are comfortable working in an environment that can be ambiguous, with rapidly changing priorities due to new opportunities
You have experience working across startups, government, nonprofits, and academia, and are adept at leading meetings and building relationships with high profile partners, funders, and business leaders
You have experience working with accelerators, incubators, and the venture capital community
You have experience advising startups and founders.
You have knowledge and/or training in project management methodologies such as Asana and/or Agile; PMP certification preferred but not required
You have experience in innovation or human centered design initiatives (a plus)
You have demonstrated experience designing and launching new programs and initiatives that drive systemic change
You have excellent communication skills – both written and spoken – and are able to translate complex ideas into accessible messaging for a wide range of audiences
You enjoy building out and coaching others on process development and resource allocation and can create excitement and energy around your work
You possess high energy and passion for JFF’s mission and the ability to apply JFF’s core values to all areas of your work
