JFF has experienced substantial growth over the past few years and is seeking a Revenue Accountant to help support this growth by working on the Finance Team. The Revenue Accountant will report to the Accounting Supervisor and will be responsible for all JFF’s billing and collections of funds. They will be a key partner in helping build proper processes and procedures to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely financial reports, including cash balances on the award level. We are looking for an individual that will join our growing team of 7 accounting staff.  

This person will have excellent attention to detail, manage all funder billings, and liaise with funders on behalf of JFF to ensure payments are collected and applied promptly. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with nonprofit revenue accounting knowledge and who approaches their work with attention to detail and a robust customer service approach.   



Billing Functions 

Perform funder billing functions and support key monthly and annual close pieces while meeting established timelines.   
Manage all aspects of funder billing, including contract, federal, and grant billing. 
Create accurate and auditable invoices and submit them to the respective funders promptly.  
Generate and review monthly billing packets. 
Review and verify billing accuracy and supporting documentation as required and handle Funder billing concerns and inquiries. 
 Review project completions in Asana and manage unbilled aging reports providing adequate auditable notes to justify project completion status. 
Calculate, prepare, and submit government contract project invoices, including necessary invoicing schedules and backup data. 
Partner with the senior accountant to process federal drawdowns monthly. 
 Accounts Receivables and Revenue Recognition 

Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments. 
Assist Accounting personnel with any transactional research related to the billing process, including all audits. 
Establish and follow regular billing cycles that, at a minimum, meet the requirements of the program funding agreement terms. 
Develop and maintain working relationships throughout the organization, particularly with the program, partnership development, and finance staff. 
Provide year-end/ contract-end/ grant period-end support as requested. 
Help develop, establish, and maintain Company’s revenue recognition policies and procedures. 
Establish relationships with key personnel at payer organizations and granting/contracting agencies. 
Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by the supervisor or Accounting Director. 


You have 3+ years of billing experience, preferably working with a fast-paced nonprofit organization. 
You have previous experience working in an Accounting or Billing department.  
You ideally have familiarity with nonprofit revenue accounting/ fund or grant accounting and thorough knowledge of applicable general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures. 
You ideally have familiarity with a variety of government contracting concepts, practices, and procedures. 
You demonstrate the ability to read, comprehend, and apply the laws, regulations, and rules about public funding sources and applicable agency contracts. 
You have experience with computer/spreadsheets and the ability to use Excel proficiently at an intermediate to advanced level, including V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, sums, sorting, filters. 
You bring excellent customer service skills organized, and detail-oriented, and excellent communication was, written and verbal skills. 
You are versatile, flexible, and able to prioritize all billing activity; you will be required to manage multiple projects concurrently and consistently hit deadlines. 
You bring sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. 
You have the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff as well as external parties, most notably with our funders. 
You have a track record of success functioning independently and as a cross-functional team member.
