About the position:
The Senior Manager, Corporate Leadership is a new role focused on managing and supporting JFF’s Corporate Leadership team’s Strategy & Infrastructure service line. The Senior Manager will report directly to the Deputy Director, Corporate Leadership at JFFLabs and will be an integral part of the team, helping to cultivate a culture that is inclusive, creates a sense of belonging for all team members, and lives JFF’s core values
Working closely with the Corporate Leadership team and its Deputy Director, this role will to contribute to the development of a high-impact and growing Corporate Leadership team – one that supports innovating organizations as they envision, develop, and implement practices that drive the economic advancement of workers. This person will play a critical role in exploring new opportunities for impact both internally and externally, through research and pilot projects, supporting the development and implementation of the Corporate Leadership team’s strategy and supporting systems, and productizing proven offerings.
The goals for our work are ambitious and this role will require someone with experience conducting primary and secondary research, managing complex projects, developing high-value products, codifying systems, and communicating and managing relationships across multiple stakeholder groups. What you’ll do:
Team Infrastructure & Management:
Write clear and energizing project, priority, and operational update communications
Build and implement systems that enable the team by understanding needs, defining processes, developing tools, integrating processes and tools into workflows, and training team members
Provide training, coaching, and other support to teams as they implement new tools, systems, and processes
Partner across the Corporate Leadership service lines to codify and productize proven offerings, and develop systems and structures that enable these service lines to scale and continually replicate.
Manage the execution of key operational systems, including fiscal systems and people and culture
Manage pilot projects supporting the Corporate Leadership team’s growth opportunities, including defining priorities, timelines, workflows, communications and deliverables
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, track, and synthesize insights related to growth and innovation efforts
Prepare and present high-quality deliverables primarily in slides and memos; articulate complex topics in a succinct and clear manner for Executive-level audiences
Act as a thought leader, mobilize growth area actors and launch pilot projects that span across services lines and develop offerings across service areas.
Strategy Development & Execution
Explore growth opportunities, in partnership with the Deputy Director, by conducting landscape analyses, identifying opportunities aligned with the team’s mission and core competencies, and defining opportunities to test new offerings
Assist in developing the Corporate Leadership team’s annual strategic plan through clarifying priorities, performance measures, implementation.
Develop a system for monitoring team progress on priorities and performance measures
Manage the execution of the annual strategic plan by monitoring performance measures, driving the execution of the implementation plan, facilitating team progress reflections, and communicating progress to the team
Who you are:
You have at least 5-8 years of experience, preferably working in an impact-focused role or organization as a consultant, research analyst, or designer. We welcome applicants with a variety of experiences across the private, public and nonprofit sectors, and applicants with foundation or grant-making backgrounds
You have experience or interest in education, workforce development, the corporate sector, and/or small businesses and are in tune with issues of economic opportunity and/or workforce development
You are organized, with a strong attention to detail, and have managed complex projects that required engaging with internal and external stakeholders
You are skilled at writing concise and succinct content, with the ability to tailor your writing to various audiences
You are comfortable aggregating and analyzing data, and producing both quantitative and qualitative insights as result of your analysis in various presentation media (e.g., talking points, presentations, memos)
You take initiative and are not afraid to dive into a project and build out your first draft.
You believe deeply in the power of the private sector to drive positive change in society and have a demonstrated ability to influence companies to shift strategies and practices that drive positive change
You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have a willingness to learn new technologies and tools (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, Google Sites, Asana, etc.)
You possess high energy and passion for JFF’s mission and the ability to apply JFF’s core values to all areas of your work
You build positive, effective, collaborative cultures and teams wherever you work
You are a curious and adaptive learner, with a willingness to take in new information, perspectives and data to inform your work
You demonstrate a growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve in your work
You are able and willing to travel up to 10%. (The frequency will vary according to mix of projects. Note: JFF requires Covid vaccination for all work-related travel.)
