Position Mission: Advance the organization by positioning the brand to drive awareness which results in resources for the Greater Boston Food Bank. This includes (1) raising donated revenue to support the annual  KPI ; (2) increasing awareness and brand position, and (3) drive the internal and external communications, public relations and public affairs. e. 

Overview: 

The Executive Vice President of Advancement (EVPA) is responsible for delivering the fundraising revenue, awareness, and internal and external communications/public relations and public affairs to advance the mission of the organization to End Hunger Here. This is done by engaging external constituents to donate financial support or in-kind services for the organization. This includes achieving key performance indicators (KPI’s) and annual goals for Development, Marketing, and Communications/Public Affairs. The EVPA works with the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), members of the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Board of Advisors and Emeriti Board to achieve the annual advancement goals while maintaining standards of excellence and compliance.

Specific Objectives for this Position

Lead the organization in executing the strategy to generate annual fundraising revenue Create and execute an Annual Fund as well as special campaigns.  This includes outreach  for individual donors, event donors, foundations and corporations.
Lead a data-driven marketing strategy, including direct mail, digital ads, web and social media to solicit new and sustaining donations. Ensure a robust process to move donors to increasingly larger and more frequent donations and collaboration with development.
Lead the strategy  to drive awareness. Oversee efforts to increase public awareness, internal and external communications, public relations, and public affairs. 
  
Develop solid relationships with top business executives and community members. Foster relationships with individual and institutional donors including members of the Board of Directors, Board of Advisors and other GBFB stakeholders.
Participate as a member of the Executive  Leadership Team (ELT) with focus on growing the organization’s fundraising revenue by positioning the brand to drive awareness.   Lead, inspire, coach, and develop the Advancement team to deliver strong results.

Continually search out new donors to add to the existing portfolio of each donor sector.
Ensure all standards, protocols and requirements are current and governed according to non-profit standards, accounting standards and best practices in food banking.
Guide the development and implementation of strategies and plans for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship including appropriate recognition.
Oversight of the three department budgets: development, communications, marketing.
Provide staff leadership and support for the Board Advancement Committee.
Represent The Greater Boston Food Bank at public forums, events, and meetings.
All other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.

Requirements/Qualifications: 

1. 10 years of experience in advancing and growing development and fundraising outcomes in excess of $50 million for a prominent non-profit

2. College degree required; Master’s Degree preferred 

3. Proven ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork and excellence

4. Demonstrated skills in management, leadership, and communication to a variety of audiences

6. Sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to honor confidentiality

7. Proven ability to handle multiple and varied tasks, as well as plan 

8. Proven ability to evaluate programs and projects 

9. Ability and willingness to travel
