GBFB is considered an essential response organization in times of disaster.  As such, Team Members are expected to report to GBFB locations as required, after securing the safety of their families, and may be asked to perform duties that are critical (but outside of their regularly assigned duties) in times of disaster.  

 

Job Title:  Facilities Engineer

FLSA Classification: Exempt 

Reports to: Senior Manager of Facilities

 

Position Summary:  Reporting to the Senior Director of Building and Facilities, the Facilities Manager is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Building and Facilities with the safety of all GBFB personnel and equipment and for the long-term integrity of our LEED Silver & AIB certified facility and building systems. The Facility Manager will work on the front-line, have hands-on execution, this position is an on-call working position. In concert with the Senior Director of Building and Facilities, the Facilities Manager will have responsibility for tactical development, hands on execution of all routine maintenance programs, budget adherence and maintaining a clean and safe environment with the lowest possible expenditure. 

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Assist with the maintenance of 117,000 sq foot operational warehouse with fleet consisting of 13 GBFB vehicles.
Assist with the implementation of life, health, & safety procedures for all GBFB employees and infrastructure to ensure GBFB is fully compliant with all regulatory authorities.
Assist with training and educating the GBFB community in all appropriate safety procedures through a combination of classroom presentation and / or appropriate activities and drills.
Assist with tracking maintenance needs of technical facility and infrastructure documentation, including engineering drawings and manufacturer / installer manuals and documents.
Assist with maintenance of a complete set of “lay user” documentation and SOPs which define the parameters and responsibilities for operation and documented maintenance of our facility and infrastructure.
Work with Senior Director of Building and Facilities in the execution of contracts for maintenance of our systems.  Including but not limited to HVAC / refrigeration systems, life safety systems and waste stream management.
Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and PMs – work completed and documented – safely, within budget, and on schedule.  Ensure appropriate spare parts are on-hand or readily available.
Working with other GBFB functions to support special events and programs affecting the facility.
On an ongoing basis, ensure that all work, activities, and programs continue to support and enhance GBFB’s LEED Silver and AIB certification.
On call to oversee maintenance and security for entire building and surrounding parking lots.
Ensure AIB standards are maintained.
Adhering to all safe work practices while working efficiently with minimal direct supervision.

 

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities Continued:

Performing maintenance tasks, such as specialized cleaning, equipment greasing, belt replacement, filter replacement, etc.
Coordinate vendors support during absence of the Senior Director of Building and Facilities.   
Completing facility upkeep, painting, and other building repair tasks.
Working with suppliers or contractors as needed and help with coordinating efforts.
Assisting as a Team Member in other functional area of the Warehouse or office as directed by Senior Director of Building and Facilities.
Communicating ideas and issues of concern in a timely manner and making positive suggestions for improvement.
Some evening and weekend work as needed conducting after hours preventive maintenance.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to operate and obtain certification for material handling equipment.
Ability to independently manage multi-tasking.
Strong computer skills, including Building Maintenance Systems (BMS) and Microsoft Office.
Strong project management skills, including written and oral communication.
Driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must.  
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills.
Knowledge of card access systems; CCTV surveillance systems; Fire alarm systems.
Conveyor systems skills.
Knowledge of Fire pumps; Generators; Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
Knowledge of networking and communication systems and infrastructures.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience in establishing and executing sound business practices is a plus.
 

Mandatory Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Building Technologies, or equivalent in experience. 
Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
Five or more years of facility management experience in a dynamic environment.
Genuine appreciation of GBFB’s mission and the ability to communicate it.
Must have current, valid driver’s license and be able to produce driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles and pass Pre-Employment background check and drug test.
Digital competency, including demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Food industry experience a plus.

 

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit for up to 3 hours at a time.
Ability to work while standing, sitting and/or walking.
Ability the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
Ability to work bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weight of 30 pounds or more.
 

Work Environment: 

Warehouse environment – working in ambient, cooler, and freezer zones for extended periods of time. 
Working with hand and powered equipment at heights up to 30′ or more above the floor. 
Onsite management position only  
Office environment with majority of time spent throughout the facility physically inspecting and conducting preventive maintenance inside and out, in all weather conditions.
Working with hand and power tools, on the floor, and in the air on ladders, and with power equipment such as scissor lifts in ambient locations at times.
Lift or carry up to 30lbs.
