Job Title: Food Acquisition Associate
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt 

Reports to: Senior Manager of Local Food Donors

 

Position Summary 

The Food Acquisition Associate is responsible for providing logistical support for scheduling, receiving, data input, and record keeping for incoming product, agency referred donations, and direct delivery orders. The role is also responsible for managing the full pallet outreach process and acting as a liaison between the Food Acquisition and Community Impact departments to support GBFB’s mission to “End Hunger Here”. As part of the Food Acquisition team you will have a direct impact on the food GBFB purchases and receives. This is a hybrid role with three (3) days a week working from the office. 

 

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage inbound loads of product scheduling and coordinate with the warehouse and carriers on late loads.
Manage the full pallet outreach process for Food Acquisition, including creating the availability list and coordinating with Food Acquisition team members on identifying slow moving items.
Create and track purchase orders as directed. 
Represent Food Acquisition in cross functional team meetings.
Support the Food Acquisition team on projects and other GBFB activities as assigned by Management.
Serve as a communication liaison between Food Acquisition and Agency Relations regarding changes to direct delivery orders schedule and status of open or pending purchase orders.
Work with Agency Relations and direct delivery recipient agencies to collect receiving paperwork required for product receipt in a timely manner, virtually receive direct delivery POs as directed.
Work with Accounts Payable department to provide necessary support to account for and resolve vendor/supplier invoice issues.
Work with all departments to provide excellent internal and external customer service, including vendors and agencies.
Respond to donor inquiries in a timely fashion and work with Food Acquisition peers to facilitate product donations efficiently and satisfy donor requests.
Generate and coordinate volunteer work orders for designated product by providing instruction for the volunteer department and operations team to see the project executed properly.
Compile documentation including shipping receipts, bill of ladings, etc. for local and national food donations.

Mandatory Education and Experience

Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Some food industry experience preferred.
Demonstrated analytical and computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
Willingness to attend food safety classes and maintain a valid ServSafe certification.
Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
Genuine appreciation of GBFB’s mission and the ability to communicate it.
