Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Inventory Control Manager
The Inventory Control Specialist is accountable for assisting in maintaining the overall data integrity of our inventory system and for meeting GBFB’s annual inventory accuracy goals by leading a robust cycle counting program. The ICS works with the Warehouse, and Food Acquisition teams to provide ongoing training to support inventory accuracy. In addition, s/he leads cross-functional teams dedicated to ongoing inventory analysis to minimize waste and support increased velocity. The ICS is expected to audit inbound products and outbound orders as directed by the ICM and fill in for the ICM as needed.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create and maintain, as appropriate, detailed formal procedures which document every step necessary to perform inventory transactions and complete dynamic inventory analysis.
Educate and train the warehouse team on inventory policies and procedures, with a goal of consistent adherence, in support of internal and external audit requirements.
Assist or Lead GBFB’s formal cycle counting program. Elements of the program include:Managing the process criteria in the WMS system.
Leading the cycle counting process and auditing the results.
Analysis and resolution of inventory discrepancies discovered.
Root cause analysis, problem resolution, retraining as necessary, and reporting of results.
Collaborating with the GBFB Accounting Team and external auditors.
As the Warehouse Management System “super user:”
Provide hands-on training to new team members and to current team members as required and as new functionality is introduced.
Create system reports and tools as required.
Recommend system solutions to meet business needs.
Assist in user testing / sign-off as enhancements and revisions are released
Manage integrity of system data, including: Item Masters, Bills of Material, & Work Orders.
Analyze transaction activity and team member performance, in collaboration with warehouse leadership.
Work collaboratively with all GBFB departments to ensure product is shipped before expiration, working to minimize waste and increase inventory throughput, particularly for frozen and perishables.
Serve as inventory point-person for audits and inspections by regulatory agencies as required.
Lead inventory-related system enhancements and upgrades.
Lead special projects as appropriate
Maintain AIB standards and actively participate in preparing for audits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Detail oriented problem-solver with solid analytical skills.
Strong communication and organizational capability.
Ability to prioritize and be proactive.
Proficient in use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Mandatory Education and Experience
Associate’s degree preferred or High School diploma with five years’ experience.
1-3 years of hands-on ERP and WMS experience, with a focus in inventory management.
Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
Proven leadership, training, education, and team-building experience.
APICS Certification is a plus.
Must be vaccinated.
Ability to move quickly between an open air/cubicle office environment to a warehouse environment.
Ability to stand for long periods of time in a warehouse setting.
Lifting inventory throughout the day, with inventory weighing up to 100 pounds.
Ability to operate pallet jack and scissor lift safely.
Ability to work in an office environment AND warehouse environment (working in ambient, cooler, and freezer zones for extended periods of time).
Ability to work in powered equipment at heights up to 30′ or more above the floor.
