Job Title: SNAP Outreach Associate, Nutrition Programs

Reports to: Manager of Federal Food Programs
Position Summary
The SNAP Outreach Associate will support GBFB’s work to expand access and participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The SNAP Outreach Associate will work over the phone and within the community to screen clients for eligibility, complete SNAP applications, provide follow up support, and advocate on behalf of clients as needed.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of SNAP-related policies to ensure accurate completion of all SNAP application assistance tasks.
Follow up with clients to ensure application requirements are complete and provide support troubleshooting issues as needed, including advocating on behalf of clients.
Perform administrative duties related to upkeep of data in online client management software, including data entry and tracking of client records.
Educate clients and community members on program guidelines and resources.
Work closely with Manager of Federal Food Programs to support program development and strengthen community partnerships.

Detail-oriented with strong follow-through, critical thinking, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak a non-English language (Spanish preferred).
Sensitivity to issues affecting low-income, food insecure populations.
Ability to work positively and professionally with people of diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Ability to adhere to HIPAA laws and compliance (sensitive and confidential information).
Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
Valid driver’s license. Must be willing to travel within Eastern MA as needed.
Mandatory Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in social service, outreach, or customer service working with diverse populations.
Must be bilingual
Must be vaccinated
Physical Demands
Ability to work in an office environment
Ability to sit for up to 3 hours at a time
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting.
This job relies heavily on interacting with clients over the phone.
This job may require work in the community, such as at community centers or food pantries.
